Hi, I’m Trevor
With 45 years living in Cairns, I am deeply involved with, and connected to, the community. Whilst sport is what I am most known for, that’s not all I am about. I am also a devoted family man with a wealth of experience in the tourism industry. I am passionate about helping individuals achieve their full potential and gain huge satisfaction from empowering and encouraging others to succeed.
Having spent 30 years working in the tourism sector and hosting the ‘National Talkblack’ program on the radio, I’ve had the privilege of engaging with countless members of the community. Through my ‘Success with Attitude’ motivational speaking business, I’ve been fortunate to inspire youth nationwide for over two decades, encouraging everyone to reach for their best selves.
My decision to run for Division 4 in the upcoming local government elections comes from my desire to represent the interests of the community and form a true partnership with those who live in Division 4. My goal is to listen, understand, and work collaboratively to find solutions for the needs of the Division. My goal is to be the candidate who get results by identifying and implementing changes that empower our community as a collective rather than as individuals.

Words I live by
Well done is better than well said
Engage
Engaging with our community is at the heart of everything I stand for, and I want to do that properly. I’ve been around the block a few times. Yarning, listening, and working together is the secret sauce to effective leadership. I’m committed to having real conversations, finding solutions together and building real relationships. For me, it’s not just a game plan, it’s how I connect. I will make sure your voices shape the decisions that matter to our community. Let’s go!
Progress
With a fire in my belly and a couple of jokes up my sleeve, I’m all about making things happen. I’m not just talking about big ideas, I’m talking about rolling up our sleeves and getting to work. Progress is not some far-off destination. It’s the road we map out together so that our community keeps getting better and better for each one of us. It’s the ‘little big’ things that will make a difference. Cleaner and safer parks for our children, and better footpaths for example.
Empower
I’m all about ensuring that every single person feels strong, capable, and heard. I believe in providing the tools and support, so communities shape their own path. By making your voices heard, I will drive the changes you want to see in your community. Let’s work together to lift each other up and make our community a place where every voice and every person matters. An informed and engaged community is an empowered community.
